The Galveston campus provides well-equipped coastal research facilities on Pelican Island (below), at Fort Crockett and on Offatts Bayou for graduate students and faculty from both campuses. Facilities in Galveston include modern analytical chemistry laboratories supporting research in environmental biogeochemistry, and sea water tanks and aquaria to support biological research. Students and scientists in Galveston also have access to facilities at the Texas Maritime Academy, Texas Institute of Oceanography, the Center for Marine Life Sciences, and the Marine Training and Safety Center.
