Cover: When Hurricane Edouard passed close to Cape Cod, Massachusetts
in September 1996, oceanographers from Texas A&M University and other
institutions were right there studying visibility in the water column. "X"
marks the sampling station where they worked for several days before and
after the storm hit, turning the natural disaster into a scientific boon.
