Outdoor Activities
Lake Bryan and Lake Somerville provide kayaking, fishing, bike trails, and nature walks for the outdoor enthusiast. Lake Somerville is also known for having the best Texas wildflowers in the state! The cities of Bryan and College Station have numerous local parks with seasonal recreational events, such as hiking tours, swimming, sporting events, and outdoor concerts. For on-campus, the Texas A&M Student Recreation Center (the Rec) offers a variety of outdoor programs and clinics as well as day trips and camping excursions. The Rec also offers swimming and diving pools, rock wall, and state-of-the-art exercise facility.

Campus & Department Socials
The College and Departments in the College hosts social events. Events include barbeques, intramural sports teams, parties, etc. There is usually a contact person, either faculty or student, that provides more information about these events. Departments also pool their resources to provide a means to meet on campus. The University (Department of Student Life and the Office of Graduate Studies) holds campus-wide socials for all graduate students and families.

Campus Performance and Sporting Events
Each year major theater, musical, and comedy productions from around the world come to the University. These activities are very popular amongst students and faculty. For a list of upcoming events, visit MSC Opas. The other major campus venue is Reed Arena, which hosts major comedy and concert events year-round. Announcements of upcoming attractions are available through campus media, as well as through the Reed Arena site. Finally, Texas A&M provides access to every collegiate sport, from football to fencing. Day and Night-Life in Bryan-College Station
For the early birds, every bar offers great happy hour drink and food specials. For the nocturnal student Bryan/College Station offers bars hosting dancing, concerts, and late-night drink specials. College Station is home of the famous Northgate, a strip of bars directly across from campus. This is favored spot after major sporting events or completion of qualifying exams. For those wanting a different environment, Bryan offers a more relaxed and eclectic environment. Bryan's recently renovated downtown offers many eclectic shops, trendy and family-owned restaurants, and drinking establishments.
