Research
I have an interest in looking at pollutants through a One Health lens which links human, environmental, and animal health together. Currently, my research focuses on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the environment and in wildlife. PFAS are found in nonstick cookware, disposable food packaging, and firefighting foams. The strong carbon-fluoride bonds in PFAS prevent them from degrading in the environment. In Dr. Yina Liu’s lab, I hope to learn more about the presence of these pollutants in sea turtles, birds, and cetaceans.
