  • Interrelationship of Oceanography and Nautical Archaeology, specifically the application of remote sensing technology to the detection and documentation of submerged cultural heritage
  • High resolution geophysics and the implementation of geophysical techniques to the survey of deepwater archaeological sites
  • Coastal archaeology, paleoecology, and the reconstruction of paleoshorelines
  • Civil War naval archaeology
